ELDA+ Vox Juventa conference and ELDA+ Unis.net quiz

The educational ELDA+ Vox Juventa conference, organised by ELDA+ to promote young Lighting Designers, and the supporting infotainment quiz ELDA+ Unis.net took place at the University of Applied Sciences in Hildesheim from 23. – 24. November, 2006.

The speakers of this years’ ELDA+ Vox Juventa conference were Diana Joels/S, Emrah Baki Ulas/AUS, Jacqueline Lim/S, Panagiota Hatziefstratiou/GR, Mariana Rocha/S and Amardeep Dugar/IND.

Amardeep Dugar was awarded € 1,000 for the best paper with the topic “Development of a syntactic technique for architectural lighting design derived from musical principles.” Nevertheless, the quality of all six papers was very high and the jury found it extremely difficult to select just one winner. Therefore the jury decided that the other five students will also get € 200 each for their presentations.

The ELDA+ Vox Juventa conference was followed by the ELDA+ Unis.net quiz. Participating teams were Hochschule Wismar, HAWK Hildeheim and KTH Stockholm. Each team comprised three persons who challenged each others to a quiz on light and lighting. The Quizmaster was Michael Rohde, ELDA from L-Plan in Berlin. The quiz teams answered questions of various degrees of difficulty for 5, 10 and 20 points over 10 rounds on different topics. It was an exciting competition as the scores were very even. In the last round the team from HAWK Hildesheim gained a lead and was awarded with € 1,000.

We would like to thank the six Vox Juventa speakers and the Unis.net quiz teams for an informative and entertaining event in Hildesheim. We hope to see all of you at the Professional Lighting Design Convention (PLDC) from 25.-27. October, 2007 in London, when ELDA+ Vox Juventa and ELDA+ Unis.net are going into the next round.
