The European Lighting Designers’ Association, ELDA+ becomes the Professional Lighting Designers’ Association, PLDA

The name “Professional Lighting Designers’ Association, PLDA” was voted online by the members of the association with a majority of 78 percent. The voting members of the association accepted this online vote again officially at the Annual General Meeting on 21. April, 2007.

Therefore the European Lighting Designers’ Association has now officially become the Professional Lighting Designers’ Association with PLDA as the credentials for Professional members.

The decision is a further step towards the intended growth of the association and signals a willingness to cooperate with professional architectural lighting designers in the whole world, especially in North America and in the rapidly developing markets in Asia. The identity of ELDA+ will not be lost or undermined. The move is rather a deliberate step to document the fact that lighting design is typified by local cultures and influences, which the present members recognise and accept.
