The Professional Lighting Designers' Association - which was originally founded as the European Lighting Designers' Association, ELDA - is one of the forefront groups in the field of lighting design in architecture. With over 500 members comprised of students and professionals, the association possesses a comprehensive network of experienced specialists in the field. Our roots and focus lie in Europe, but we have members and welcome applications from all corners of the world from Brazil to Australia. The Professional Lighting Designers' Association was founded to underline the fact that there are differences in the quality of the lighting design currently being effected in the architectural design process and to improve the existing quality of lighting design. Only by the careful examination and classification of new members can the Association aim to define the above mentioned qualities and form an opinion of the members' knowledge and abilities. This in turn enables individuals to establish in which areas they can or need to develop and what further education programmes might be pursued. more

It is now possible to apply for a Professional or Associate membership through an interview with the Membership Committee.

All Affiliate grades with the exception of Educator are required to reapply for membership after two years.
PLDA Circle of Sponsors:	Company membership for a minimum of three years. One annual fee as
	a special donation on joining plus three further annual fees (see Agreement).
